Catherine C.

Catherine joined the Mariposa team in 2016. She serves as the Elementary Department Head and a Lead Guide in Lower Elementary. Catherine believes deeply in Montessori’s holistic approach to education, particularly the focus on peace education and the trust in every child’s ability to do great work in the world. She’s grateful to spend her days seeing the world through children’s eyes and helping them find their place in it. 

Catherine earned her Upper and Lower Elementary Montessori teaching credentials through the Center for Guided Montessori Studies, and prior to that studied at The George Washington University and Parsons School of Design, before moving to Spain for six years to teach young children. She is also certified in teaching English as a Foreign Language. Catherine lives in South Austin, where she enjoys gardening, reading, and family time with her husband and children.
