Whitney F.

Whitney Falcon, founder of Mariposa Montessori, is extremely passionate about children, education, and the Montessori philosophy. With over 25 years experience in the Montessori world, Whitney earned her American Montessori Society (AMS) Birth-3 credential, under the tutelage of the AMS Living Legacy Virginia Varga, who pioneered the first Montessori toddler program in the United Stated in 1964. Following her personal commitment to children and their futures, Whitney created Mariposa Montessori in 2007, and it serves as not just a school, but a true community for families.

Whitney's fierce compassion and love for humanity has recently lead her to taking on more roles at AMS headquarters. She currently serves on the AMS Peace and Social Justice Committee and the AMS Development Committee. She regularly serves on visiting teams for the AMS accreditation board, both nationally and internationally. With her extensive knowledge of the Montessori philosophy and curriculum, she has also served as a teacher educator and intern evaluator, guiding and mentoring the Montessorians of the future.

When she is not at Mariposa or serving AMS, Whitney loves and spending time with her children, John, Enid, and Hazel, and traveling to see her friends and favorite bands around the country. She also loves cuddling with her sweet dog, Frankie, and new kittens, Boo and Ding Dong. Whitney also enjoys running marathons and has conquered the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend twice and is a two time finisher of Austin 3M half Marathon.
